NOTE: The feature only works for embedded clips, not links. Read the update to know how to hot-link to a segment in a video..
By adding the time in seconds behind the movie URL in embedded youtube clips, you can let the embed video start at a given time.
In this example 20 seconds into the clip:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=A-9HuQZ7kkI%26hl%3Dnl%26fs%3D1%26
becomes:
http://www.youtube.com/v/A-9HuQZ7kkI&hl=nl&fs=1&start=20
<object width=”480″ height=”295″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/A-9HuQZ7kkI&hl=nl&fs=1&start=20“></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/A-9HuQZ7kkI&hl=nl&fs=1&start=20” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”480″ height=”295″></embed></object>
result: (the video jumps to 20 SECONDS immediately)
